Moving Forward

Well, this year is moving forward and so are we.  It’s been a busy couple of months around here as usual, and as always, the Lord’s grace has been sufficient to get us through.  We have been blessed with wonderful weather here these past few weeks, with the exception of one week where the temperatures were near freezing.  Sometimes you need something like that to help you be thankful.

Below is a short video of one of our most recent outings enjoying the weather.  It’s nothing fancy, as I’m still needing to update some things, but totally worth making just seeing how happy our baby girl gets watching it.

Fall Harvests

Fall has been a busy time.  Life raising our kiddos always seems to be a balancing act of maintaining all the work that needs to be done on a daily basis, while still making time to enjoy lots of fun breaks along the way.

This October, we once again visited a local apple orchard.  Despite the weather being windy and a bit chilly at home, 40 minutes away at the orchard, the weather was beautiful.  That’s mid-west living for ya, you never know what you’re going to get.

We were really glad we went.  It was a great outing.  We arrived a little late in the day, and as people kept leaving, the landscape seemed to get more peaceful and we were in no hurry to leave.  Below is a short video of our time picking apples. Like, share and subscribe!!

We also gathered the rest of our fall harvest. We were blessed with several healthy pumpkins and squash a few weeks back.  Sweet potatoes were the last food we harvested.  While some did not do so well, we are thankful for what we gathered.  Some fun facts: sweet potatoes are not the same as yams. They are loaded with vitamins A and B6. They are also used in diets to help increase fertility, and no, I have not been on such a diet, though I do love sweet potatoes!

Celebrations and Giving Thanks

These past couple of months, we’ve had some blessed opportunities to meet some new faces and visit some, well, not so new faces that we haven’t seen in awhile. We’ve also had two fall birthdays since our last update, and a couple of wedding celebrations too.  For one of our son’s birthdays we decided to go roller skating. We hadn’t been in quite awhile, and he had a new pair of skates that hadn’t got used on the rink yet.

I would like to report that there were no injuries!  Joshua and I survived, though a kid did crash into him which caused him to have quite a fall.  It seems that every time I have a baby, I go through this short time of learning how to balance on skates all over again.  Though Joshua did skate much better than me, I did pretty well to keep up with him. I was zooming around in no time.

Well, another Thanksgiving season has come upon us.  As I’m writing this, Joshua is trying to fix our oven that decided to stop working 3 days before Thanksgiving.

Regardless of how that situation turns out, we have much to be thankful for. Things may not always, or sometimes even seldom turn out as you might plan, but the way I see it, they could always be worse.

So, moving forward, we hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Joy is the fruit of a thankful heart.  So may we all be filled with thankfulness and shine with joy this week and always.

Til next time……….

Update: The oven is working! I’m thankful I have such a handy man!
